You’re not. I can almost promise you. Well, maybe you are and that may be a good thing or a very bad thing.
Wait, what? I’ll explain.
Most of us, myself included, probably aren’t the leader we think we are. You may think you’re the best leader in in the world and your people love you. Really? How do you know? Have you ASKED them? If you think you’re the world’s greatest leader, you are most likely in it for the title, and the perceived ‘rewards’ and ‘perks’ of being a leader.
Some of you probably think you not even a leader. You’re just a worker bee, puttin’ in the time, drawing the check. Yet, people at work come to you for advice, ask how, enjoy being around you. People at church, kid’s sporting events, clubs or just hangin’ with your friends, people listen when you speak. They seem to genuinely like you. You’re a leader and can’t see your own potential to grow that.
Now, be clear, both types are leaders, even bad leaders are worth observing, if nothing else to learn what not to do.
Take a look at yourself, ask for honest feedback from those you trust.
Find out what kind of leader you really are.
Lead Forward
