Vision Quest
In classic Native American lore, the vision quest was about a young brave heading out into the wilderness, finding a solitary place and then…………………………………….wait.
He wouldn’t return home until he had received his destiny and the Great Spirit had given him his True Name. That Name told that young man who he was and what his life’s purpose would be.
Confirmation and baptism in the Christian traditions were supposed to replicate the same thing…a sense of joining and infusing us with a purpose. We were to receive our callings, and perhaps our names didn’t always coincide with our life’s purpose, it still built on a deep and abiding pattern of initiation.
As a part of F3 (f3nation.com), we receive our F3 handle or name, again, providing that tie to our personalities but enduring us as a member of our ‘tribe’.
Many of us still need to embark on our Vision Quest and have our souls ‘confirmed’. What we all want to know, regardless of being able to express it, is an inner vision that reminds us of where we ‘fit in’ in this world and what we are here to do.
And sometimes, that is totally different than what we do to ‘pay the bills’.
Have you heard your real name?
What are you here on earth to do?
