Everyone on this side of the Atlantic (and the other side as well, I’m sure) has noticed the week coming up for the US. Typically, in a more normal time, this would be Inauguration Week. That time either every 4 or 8 years that we witness the peaceful transfer of power of the Executive Branch of the United States of America. This isn’t any normal year obviously.
Washington DC is surrounded by razor wire and fences. More troops are stationed in the Capitol region that are in the Middle East right now. Hell, if they could have figured out how to have an aircraft carrier parked on the National Mall, I’m sure they would have.
It makes for a very dystopian picture of a bleak future. Hell, 2020 did that all by itself. We’ve got to remember one very important thing.
The narrative is made for us. Things just don’t ‘happen’ anymore. Politics and government have blended with Big Tech and Hollywood to create an almost living breathing 24 hour a day action thriller spy movie.
Face it, it's almost like Schrodinger’s Narrative. “Everything is true and everything is false” all at the same time.
Here’s the thing. On Wednesday morning, January 20th, 2021, people will still wake up and go to work. Children will still be sick at St. Judes, a village in a 3rd world country still won’t have water. Someone will die that morning, a family will welcome a baby. In short, life goes on.
Trust me, I’ve lived in the DC area for almost 20 years off and on over the course of my adult life. The people here, especially ‘the players’, don’t see life outside the Beltway. It truly is a bubble, a real life Truman Show. They don’t know you and more importantly, they don’t care about you.
A popular saying amongst military people is about self-reliance and preparedness. It goes “No one is coming to save you.” It’s a saying worth remembering. And it doesn’t have to be doom and gloom.
Just remember, wake up and be grateful, live your best life, love those close to you, serve and protect them, do the right things and go to sleep that night with honor.
It really is that easy. The Free State of You.
