We’re smack dab in the middle of the holiday season now, you can’t escape Mariah Carey if you wanted to. With the holidays come the ‘traditions’. What are they and why do we still need them?
Many people follow old family traditions and others choose to ‘make’ new ones every year. Not sure how that works, since a tradition needs a timeline, but hey, it’s your holidays.
Traditions tie us to our roots, to our past and to keep alive a thought, a memory or special ‘thing’ that reminds us of who we are, who we were, where we came from and forges a legacy.
Maybe there is something to be said about ‘traditional’ and ‘traditions’. We often hear folks pining for the “good ol days”. Well, maybe you make good ol days when you start a tradition. So, there may be something to starting new ones every year.
Make some traditions this year with your family, be it a family of relation by blood or kinship born from friendship. Eat a new dish, sing a new song, have special event.
It’s time to usher in the glorious and golden new age after our dark past two years.
