Thanks for stopping by. How’d you like the youtube video Coffee with the Chief?
Would you like more like that? Maybe a Cocktails with the Chief? Cool, let me know.
Today, we get back to some leadership lessons, I know, I know…groan…
But honestly, I had a particular lesson come back to light for me the other day.
I say that because I did something as a leader that I didn’t even really think about as a ‘leadership thing’, it was more just what I do.
I’m a team lead for about 13 folks. Good people each and every one. (WOuldn’t be working with me if they weren’t!).
I had one teammate going in for a medical procedure. Nothing major, just routine, but still, she’d be out for a couple of days.
Saturday, I automatically picked up my work phone and texted her, “Hey, hope all is well, rest up, take off what you want, let me know if you need anything.”
Simple, right?
Yeah, but no. It’s a big thing. See, when you’re the leader, it’s so very easy to say you do all the right things, look after your people, lead from the front, blah, blah, blah.
But when you invest in your people, your team, that means putting a true effort in to really care about all aspects of them and their lives. And it should be an effort that effortless.
Pay attention to the little things, before you lack of attention causes the workplace to have bigger things to deal with.
