Wow, what a week it’s been huh? Weather dominated the news and we’re almost at the 365th day of 14 days to Flatten the Curve (tm).
Here we go for this Friday with my 5 things.
Texas and the South in winter. This was a blow. Record cold and snow and ice. I can tell you, being a born Southerner, lived in GA, LA and TX, they just can’t justify keeping the equipment around to deal with a once every 10-15 year event. Sure, the power grid could have been better prepared, but hey, everyone wanted deregulation to free companies from Federal oversight and regulations, hoping for cost savings passed on to the consumer. Yeah, about that…
Being Prepared. Living down south, you prepare for hurricanes, tornadoes, heat waves and the other 3 season weather calamities. Why not prepare for winter? Seriously, go buy a few cases of water, some canned goods, a little propane bottle powered camp stove and some lanterns. The Boy Scouts (when they actually cared about boys) preached this and taught a generation of men to be ready for anything.
On the lighter side, we didn’t hear much about COVID this week, thankfully. Seems it’s getting better, but we’re still watching the Ringmasters run the clown cars in circles to keep us mesmerized by their storylines. Hopefully soon we will collectively stand up and say enough, learn to live with it, just like we do with hundreds of other viruses and diseases. Freedom from tyranny and lies is an inherent right for modern society.
Lots of good thoughts turning to spring as we wind down the winter calendar. Soon, we’ll see the first signs of life trying to spring forth from the ground, migratory birds will be back and the buds of trees will poke their heads out from their nap. Let’s focus on the good things to come. Think Spring.
Finally, try to practice calm with yourself and with each other. I saw a lady the other day in a parking lot, honking her horn impatiently at another car waiting for a handicap spot. Sure, it was backing traffic up, but most everyone was being polite and waiting. Not Lexus Karen. She blared her horn, gestured rudely out the window and basically made a, well, Karen of herself. Finally she got to move and what did she do? Pulled up 3 spaces and stopped to wait on another car to load up and move so she could have 2 spaces closer to the door. SMH…
Have a great weekend, take some time to rest up, relax and just enjoy being you.
I’ll see you next week.

P.S. These free emails will likely slow up in coming out. I am focusing on my Premium Subscriber side of this account. I’m writing the story of my Navy career with all the fun and sometimes incriminating, stories of my youth. I also send longer, more in depth emails to the paid subscribers. I’m running a sale right now, $10 for a years access. Click the links and don’t miss out! Prices go up at the end of the weekend.
